Bariatric surgical operation is a technique accomplished on obese people so one can assist them to obtain fast weight reduction. Bariatric= (Barros) heaviness/large/pressure is defined as a person weight in kilograms divided by the square of his height in meters (kg/m2).Body mass index (BMI) is a simple index of weight-for-height that is commonly used to classify overweight and obesity in adults.

Weight that is higher than what is considered as a healthy weight for a given height is described as overweight or obese. Body Mass Index, or BMI, is used as a screening tool for overweight or obesity. It is the field of medicine encompassing the study of obesity, its causes, prevention, and treatment.

BMI does not measure body fat directly, but research has shown that BMI is moderately correlated with more direct measures of body fat obtained from skinfold thickness measurements, bioelectrical impedance, underwater weighing, dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) and other methods.
